He is thought to have been born in Belmonte.He was the third son of Fernao Cabral Governor of Beira and Belemont Isabel de Gouveia de queiros. Portugal considered him conpetent to continue the work of Vasco da Gama. March 9 1500 he began his journey Vasco de Gama gave the direction for the voyage. He was followed by 13 other ships with over 1500 men. he soon resumed his discovery back to the Indies (south tip of Africa.) On July 15 1500 he finally reached Mozambique. After the voyage Pedro returned to Portugal where he hired a pilot to take him to India. September 13 1500 he arrived in Calicut where he traded for spices. January 16 1501 he started his journey back to portugal. Those were two of his voyage what he is truly remembered for is when he founded Brazil. He was following the passage that Vasco de Gama did. He had 13 ships with over 1500 men. After going west for longer than he was suppose to his fleet discovered Brazil. Arriving at the point he named this new place True Cross" & claimed it for Portugal. In August 10 he the ship commanded by Deigo Dias discovered what they named after St. Lawrence later known as Madagascar. Pedro continued to India to trade spices established at Calicut. After a chain of bad luck. He returned with only five ships & 600 men. He was buried on a monastery in Santarem.
